Jim Frey brings over 20 years of network and infrastructure management experience
SAN FRANCISCO – April 14, 2015 – Stealth network management startup Kentik today announced it has hired distinguished networking industry analyst Jim Frey to join the company as vice president of products. With more than 20 years of network and IT infrastructure management experience, most recently as vice president of research at Enterprise Management Associates (EMA), Frey joins Kentik to drive product management, strategic planning, and partner alliances.
“Jim has deep industry experience and context, and shares our vision and passion for driving change in the network monitoring space,” said Avi Freedman, co-founder and CEO of Kentik. “We are excited to welcome him on board to drive the roadmap for Kentik as we bring easy and powerful network visibility, insight, and global internet context to infrastructure operators.”
Prior to joining Kentik, Frey spent nearly seven years as an independent analyst heading up network management research at EMA, where he covered the changing landscape of enterprise network and infrastructure management tools, technologies and practices. Previously, Frey spent six years with NetScout Systems as vice president of marketing, where he played a key role in joint projects with NetScout’s partners, including HP, Mercury, Riverbed and OPNET. Frey’s earlier experience in network management includes ten years working for Cabletron Systems, Objective Systems Integrators, Agilent Technologies and Micromuse.
“With its early traction in the industry, compelling technology approach, strong investor backing and visionary leadership, joining Kentik was an easy decision,” said Frey. “I’m excited to be part of an organization that is building effective solutions for some of the most difficult visibility and anomaly detection challenges facing network operators today.”
