Introducing Tiny Postcards: The Places We Call Home at Kentik

Summary
The people behind Kentik work from some incredible places. Tiny Postcards is a new series where they share their favorite things about where they live: the food, the views, the little details that make a place feel like home. Mel Keong is kicking things off from Singapore.
Mel and our first Tiny Postcard
Mel Keong calls Singapore home, where the ocean is basically her backyard. She’s our Channel Sales Director for APAC, and that’s the kind of detail about her life you might not learn on a Zoom call.
We talk a lot about what we build at Kentik. But who builds it, and from where, is just as much a part of our story. Because we are a fully remote, globally distributed team, we get the best of both worlds: the comfort of working from our favorite little corners of the world, while still connecting with brilliant colleagues across hemispheres.
We wanted to create a space to celebrate our people and the amazing places we call home. Enter Tiny Postcards: a fun new series where Kentikians around the world share their top three favorite things about where they live. A quick peek into the places and everyday moments that make up our lives and life at Kentik.
Mel’s top three
In her own words, here’s what Mel loves about her city and what makes Singapore home:
- The sunrise: I live near the beach, every morning brings a different sunrise :) The photo below was taken with my phone.

-
Singapore is a food paradise! We are known for incredible culinary diversity, blending Chinese, Malay, Indian, and Western influences into a vibrant, accessible scene. The heart of Singaporean dining features favorites like Hainanese chicken rice, chili crab, char kway teow, and oyster omelette. Michelin-starred quality is available at affordable prices (as cheap as USD$5) in local hawker centers.
-
Singapore is ranked as the safest country in the world, with 98% of people feeling safe walking alone at night. During my early days, I used to get up at 4 a.m. to run or bike, knowing that Singapore is very safe. We can even leave our laptop, Chanel handbag on the table while getting our food, no one will take it. :)
Next postcard incoming
Thank you Mel for kicking off Tiny Postcards, sharing your favorites with us, and for making us all very hungry in the process!
Our next postcard is on its way from a different continent, a different timezone, and a whole new corner of the Kentik world. Follow the Kentik blog so you don’t miss it!
